The brand is founded by Young female entrepreneur Ciara McGurk and it is launched in 2023. Prior to its official launch to the public in June 2023, Ciara announced the brand via a Tallow + Ash Laundry Lab Facebook group, amassing a huge following which saw the company sell more than 15,000 bottles over its opening weekend.

In the same month, Ciara also secured a £250,000 investment from BrewDog CEO, James Watt through his Next Unicorn competition in Las Vegas. Then in February 2024, Tallow + Ash was revealed as the most googled laundry brand in the UK, beating the likes of Persil and Ariel as well as more eco-friendly companies like Ecover.
