In 100 days, La Caverne du Pont Neuf, a temporary artwork by JR, will emerge in the center of Paris. From June 6 to 28, the installation will honor Christo and Jeanne-Claude's The Pont Neuf Wrapped, marking its 40th anniversary in 2025. This will offer a limited-time chance for Parisians and tourists to witness a reimagining of Paris' oldest bridge.

The project will receive backing from the L’Amicale des Ponts

de Paris endowment fund. Like the creations of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, the installation will not rely on government funding. Instead, it will be funded through the sale of JR's artworks and private donations, with contributions from Snap Inc., Bloomberg Philanthropies, and Paris Aéroport. La Caverne du Pont Neuf will be accessible to the public at no cost, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It can be admired from multiple vantage points, whether on foot or by bicycle, from the banks of the Seine, the elevated quays, and several nearby bridges, as well as from the water via riverboat services, river shuttles, and Seine cruises.

Due to its massive size, La Caverne du Pont Neuf will be visible not only in the immediate vicinity of the Pont Neuf but also from the aerial view on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower.

Throughout its three-week exhibition, visitors can tour the French capital to see it from every perspective. Additionally, a collaboration with Paris Aéroport will provide travelers with exclusive experiences. To realize this vision, JR enlisted top-tier creative and technological experts, collaborating with Snap Inc.’s AR Studio Paris, the leading center for augmented reality innovation and research.

By centering augmented reality within the project, AR Studio Paris, in collaboration with JR, is creating a series of interactive experiences that transform the physical installation into a dynamic adventure. Through this partnership, Snap Inc. emerges as the primary creative and technological ally of the project, using innovation to support an ambitious artistic vision grounded in heritage.

Following on from their collaboration for Retour à la Caverne - Act II, Chiroptera (facade of the Opéra Garnier, Paris, 2023), together with Damien Jalet, and on the occasion of the exhibition Dans la lumière (Perrotin, Paris, 2024), JR proposed to Thomas Bangalter, former member of the duo Daft Punk, to participate in the project by inviting him to imagine the sound dimension of La Caverne du Pont Neuf.

Many different professionals are involved in the development and organization of La Caverne du Pont-Neuf. From suppliers to workers, production and engineering teams, 800 people will contribute to the success of the project. Don't forget to save the date!
