Released in 1972, during the ‘golden age’ of Danish design, the Multi-Lite’s early iterations featured a high-gloss finish on the signature interactive shade, giving the design depth and texture. GUBI’s new editions bring back the glossy look, imbuing the collection with a gleaming new expression while restoring its original aesthetic.
From mid-century inspired designs to contemporary

interpretations, GUBI's Multi-lite collection by Louis Weisdorf is available in a wide range of sizes and finishes. It become the defining ingredient of a room’s atmosphere and aesthetics. Sculptural masterpieces in their own right, they complement, contrast, and illuminate the furniture they rest on. The signature ring around the lamp now does double duty as a handle, allowing the lightweight lamp to be easily carried around and outside the home - the ideal companion to outdoor events and alfresco evenings.
“Lamps are mostly static in their shape and appearance – by the time the drawing, production, and installation are complete, you essentially have the finished look. I wanted a lamp that could do more. I imagined it would appeal to more people if they could put their own mark on the lamp design and change it whenever they felt the need, without compromising on the lighting qualities. That was when I came up with the idea of the Multi-Lite: shades that could be repositioned to transform the look and feel of the lamp.” - Louis Weisdorf, architect and designer.
